Donald J. Trump was officially sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, January 20. During the inauguration, peaceful as well as threatening protests erupted in Washington, D.C. to raise voices against the seemingly unpopular man. News coverage followed the ceremonies of the day and showed the response of the American people.

While the inauguration was shown to have significantly less attendees than in the past, the true force of solidarity was seen on January 21. Women all across the United States, and across the world joined, in a march to promote the unity and equality of women. It was one of the largest movements worldwide and the future goal of the Women’s March is to make this peaceful protest into a social impact that produces a change in the political world.

Trump’s administration battled the media this past weekend, claiming the 2017 inauguration crowd reached almost 1.5 million people.
