Rock Valley College is hosting a domestic violence awareness event Tuesday, October 10, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Remedies Domestic Violence Shelters is running the awareness event.
They’re a local nonprofit organization aimed to helping people in Winnebago and Boone Counties find immediate refuge from domestic violence abuse. They give over 1,500 women and children a safe shelter and provide over 1,800 patients struggling with addictions treatment every year.

The first hour will be a helpful primer on how to help people suffering from domestic violence and the after effects. The last part will have attendees walk a mile around RVC campus to symbolically ponder and internalize a plan of action moving forward. Information about Remedies Domestic Violence Shelters is found here at their website.
