Traditionally, achieving a triple-double in basketball was something that didn’t occur all that often. The past few NBA seasons has proved to be an unprecedented milestone for this notable feat. The most triple-doubles recorded in a single season was the 1988-1989 regular season with. Since then, there were 117 triple-doubles scored in the 2016-2017 season alone, the most in NBA history.
With how today’s NBA players are performing, this season very may well show that up with the aggressiveness, speed, and talent we see on the courts now. James Harden is one these players that knows this well. When the Houston Rockets hosted the Orlando Magic Tuesday, Harden couldn’t be stopped. Scoring 60 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds, Harden set an NBA record with the highest scoring triple-double in NBA history. Safe to say, this secured a 114-107 victory over the Orlando.
Tuesday night’s performance will solidify Harden’s campaign run for MVP and definitely has separated him from not only the other point guards in this league, but also as a dominant force in the Western Conference. The Rockets performance throughout this season can mainly be accredited to nights like Harden recently put down, and maybe, the unstoppable Golden State Warriors can head home early in the postseason.
