As the sports equinox dawns upon our country and we watch the best of baseball’s postseason play, while football teams figure out their footing in the standings. At the same time basketball with hockey are just getting started. We need to know what to eat, as the best play.

There’s a neat restaurant off of Forest Hills in Rockford named, It’s A Wing Thing. When March Madness rolls around the establishment will be turning two years old. It’s run by Laura, and she’s a charming welcoming personality to greet you as you walk in. They have a whole slew of options for how you can get your wings sauced, breaded, bone-in, and crispy. Along with that is a variety of items on the menu paired with well-priced combos. Chicken sandwiches, catfish, chicken tenders, and shrimp are just some of the foods they have there.

I appreciate the type of wings they serve. Especially the traditional wings. It’s a good size, they fry it through (I’m a fan of crispy wings), and they don’t skimp out on what sauce is desired. The fries that pair with the combo are fantastic. Laura has a seasoning on the fries that makes a great duo with the wings.

Their rewards program is fun as well. You receive a nickel for each dollar spent. Getting a combo meal, the rewards will stack up reasonably.

Laura has a few things in the works. She bought an ice cream cabinet to use products from a Wisconsin dairy company to supply her ice cream for the restaurant. There have been Southern Cuisine nights, a family buffet, and different promotions she has worked on to try new things.

In personal preference and opinion, It’s A Wing Thing, is by far one of the best places in the Rockford area to grab wings to eat. Considering the price, portion, and taste, it is well worth the trip.
